Avant Energy is seeking an Energy Programs Specialist to join our Energy Operations practice. We’re looking for someone who wants to make a difference in client communities as part of a high performing group that provides opportunities for advancement. This role provides the opportunity to work internally with the Avant team and externally with our clients, city staff, retail customers and schools.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Energy Conservation
- Assist with Conservation Improvement Program (CIP) management for a group of municipal utilities
- Collaborate with cities to achieve their annual CIP goals and design new energy conservation programs
- Work with cities to encourage residential and business customers to use electricity more efficiently through program offerings
- Conduct site visits at multifamily and commercial properties to identify opportunities to save energy
Energy Education
- Assist with energy education program offered to students enrolled in schools located in municipal utility and project host communities
- Responsibilities include developing energy-related content for workbooks and programming for in-school assemblies and power plant tour event, coordinating with Science Museum of Minnesota staff, and maintaining familiarity with current Minnesota science standards
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 2 years utility and/or energy conservation experience
- 1-2 years education/event experience (preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree
- Analytical skills
- Problem solving
- Advanced Excel skills
