Michigan Sugar Company has an immediate full-time opportunity for a Agricultural Operations Supervisor. This position will base out of the Bay City facility, but will cover the West District.

 


Job Summary

The Agricultural Operations Manager for the Ag Department is responsible for leadership, accountability, and all piling ground operations within their assigned district.  This leadership and accountability include but is not limited to: all daily operations of each piling grounds within their district, maintenance, staffing, equipment safety, continuous improvement plans in regards machinery functionality and effective piling ground operations.  This position is responsible for all piling ground operations within their district.  Responsible for receiving and storing over 1.5 million tons of beets valued at 75 million dollars.

 

 

Primary Responsibilities


  • Manage all supervisors, foreman, and leaders within assigned district

  • Manage and maintain all agricultural operation budgets within the assigned district

  • Manage all piling ground operations; early delivery, permanent piling, Maus delivery, transfer delivery, ventilation systems, grounds maintenance, equipment preparation, maintenance scheduling, etc.

  • Maintain and improve all operations within the assigned district

  • Direct all beet receiving operations and ensure production expectations are achieved

  • Continuous improvement on productivity and process operations

  • Continuous improvement on time management of maintenance

  • Stabilizing and filling operation staffing rosters

  • Stabilizing and filling maintenance staff rosters

  • Manages and leads preventative, predictive and reactive maintenance/process and reliability

  • Plans project maintenance

  • Responsible for 24/7 response to issues that potentially shut down operations on piling grounds

  • Ability to work across district lines if needed

  • Maintains and assures all OSHA and maintenance safety procedures are followed

  • Ability to work with other district managers and supervisors to improve consistency and improve all operations

  • Any other duties as assigned


Position Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work/technical training experience

  • Prior supervisor or leadership experience 

  • Skilled tradesman experience

  • 2+ years of lean manufacturing related experience

  • Ability to assess the skill level of various skilled trade positions

  • Ability to lead and communicate effectively with others
