U.S. Wind Energy Industry welcomes Rhode Island Governor Donald L. Carcieri as New Vice Chairman of Governor's Wind Coalition
Washington, District of Columbia, United States September 29, 2009
The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) today issued the following statement by AWEA CEO Denise Bode welcoming the expansion of the Governors’ Wind Energy Coalition and the nomination of Rhode Island Governor Donald L. Carcieri as the Coalition’s new vice chairman:
"The appointment of Rhode Island Governor Donald Carcieri as
the new vice chairman of the Governors’ Wind Energy Coalition is
a further step in the right direction.
"The United States has a great diversity of wind resources, both
on shore and off shore, in the Midwest, and on the coasts. Governor
Carcieri, who leads a state with significant offshore wind, together
with the Coalition’s chairman, Iowa Governor Chet Culver, will help
the Coalition develop and advance the balanced policies needed to
use all the nation’s wind resources, which will spur continued growth
and job creation. We look forward to working with Governor Carcieri.
"I also would like to thank Governor Culver for his leadership as
the Coalition’s chairman. Wind energy would not be where it is today
without Governor Culver’s dedication."
AWEA is the national trade association of America’s wind industry,
with more than 2,000 member companies, including global leaders
in wind power and energy development, wind turbine manufacturing,
component and service suppliers, and the world’s largest wind power
trade show. AWEA is the voice of wind energy in the U.S., promoting
renewable energy to power a cleaner, stronger America.
