Brookings, South Dakota, United States June 4, 2008

VeraSun Energy Corp. (NYSE: VSE), one of the nation’s largest ethanol producers, today announced that Roderick Arnold has been named the company’s Director of Transportation. In his new role, Arnold will be responsible for the management and optimization of VeraSun’s railcar fleet of ethanol tanker cars and hopper cars used for the transportation of dried distillers grains. Arnold comes to VeraSun following a 23-year career at Cargill.

“We are excited to have someone with Rod’s experience lead our transportation group,” said Barry Schaps, VeraSun’s senior vice president, sales and logistics. “His previous experience will be a valuable asset to VeraSun as we continue to focus on business relationships with our transportation providers and railcar manufacturing and leasing companies.”

Prior to VeraSun, Arnold served as the assistant corporate rail fleet manager and fleet maintenance manager. In that role, he was responsible for standardizing equipment and improving service reliability while implementing process design changes to improve fleet utilization, minimize fleet maintenance expenses and increase the overall satisfaction from customers. Arnold focused on developing and implementing performance metrics around service levels and creating training modules for customers and staff. Previous to that, Arnold held various positions at Cargill, including divisional rail fleet manager, regional supply chain manager, staff logistics manager and staff transportation manager.

“I am looking forward to the transportation opportunities and challenges that are ahead for VeraSun as they continue to differentiate themselves in delivering the majority of their ethanol via unit trains to key customers in major markets,” Arnold said. “VeraSun has demonstrated its ability to effectively and efficiently manage their supply chain economics and integrated logistics while providing the highest level of customer support.”

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Arnold earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in transportation and logistics management from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio.
