Mathias Kamolz New Plant Director at Conergy SolarModule in Frankfurt (Oder)
Hamburg, Germany, June 3, 2008

Mathias Kamolz (46) will be taking office as managing director at Conergy SolarModule GmbH & Co. KG with immediate effect. He will head the plant management of the production site in Frankfurt (Oder). The graduated physics engineer will significantly contribute to the build-up of one of the world’s most modern solar factories.

“Mathias Kamolz is a very experienced leader who has successfully managed difficult tasks before. We are more than happy to have him on board. We are facing great challenges but with Mr. Kamolz heading our factory in Frankfurt (Oder) we are optimally positioned to succeed”, says Dr. Andreas von Zitzewitz, CEO of the components division within the Conergy AG and managing director of Conergy SolarModule.

Mathias Kamolz graduated in Technical Physics at the University of Applied Sciences in Munich. After his engagement as an engineer for Siemens AG in Munich and for IBM in France, he assumed different management functions during the setup of the semiconductor factory SIMEC Dresden, e.g. the management of the Physical Failure Analysis Department.

As senior manager Mathias Kamolz was responsible for the lithography section at Infineon Technologies in Dresden. Later on, he headed the Infineon production site for photolithographic masks in Munich. As managing director he resumed the Advanced Mask Technology Center GmbH & Co. KG Dresden, a Joint Venture between Qimonda (Germany), AMD (USA) and Toppan (Japan). Most recently Mathias Kamolz was Vice President of Qimonda AG in Dresden and had overall responsibility for the 300mm pilot line.

„The decision to leave Qimonda was not an easy one. However, I can say already that it was the right step. From the very beginning I have been surprised about everybody’s positive and pragmatic attitude here at Conergy in FFO”, explains Kamolz. “The solar industry is at a point now, where the semiconductor industry was 10 to 20 years ago. Therefore I am to bring my long-time experience from semiconductor industry to the photovoltaics business”, Kamolz continues.
