Description:
My client is a leading global investment bank with a strong presence in Asia. They have a very successful climate change business including a strong focus on CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) projects in China. They are currently looking to hire a manager to run their CDM projects team in Beijing. This is an outstanding opportunity to take a leap into a well-established financial institution and for an experienced candidate to prove themselves as a leader.
Responsibilities of the role include, but are not restricted to:
· Management of the CDM team including originators, project developers and PDD writers
· Origination of new CDM projects across China
· Travelling frequently to assess new potential projects and to pitch to clients
· Business and brand development
· Speaking at conferences and to the local media to raise the brand profile
Managing relationships at a senior level with DOE (Designated Operational Entities), DNA (Designated National Authorities) and UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change)
Liaise with the technical CDM implementation team
Requirements
Skills and qualifications required:
· Deep understanding of the Kyoto framework and VCS (Voluntary Carbon Standards)
· A strong project list proving that you have participated in a large number of CDM projects in China (wind, biomass, CBM/CMM, hydro, natural gas etc)
· At least 4 years’ experience working in a financial institution, DOE or project developer with a focus on Chinese CDM projects
· Total work experience of 10 years, including the above
· Native level spoken and written Mandarin Chinese; excellent spoken and written English (bilingual)
· Leadership skills – proven success in motivating and managing members of staff
· Excellent educational background
