Description: Summary: We are seeking a team member with solar project development expertise as a System Designer and Project Manager to accelerate the growth of our company. The candidate must live in the New York area or be willing to relocate. She or he must have at least 2 years experience designing commercial-scale solar photovoltaic systems. This is NOT an entry-level position. Only those with substantial experience in the photovoltaic field need apply. Position Expectations: As part of the senior management team, the Senior Vice President of Operations will play a critical role in the development of Just Energy’s systems design and engineering platform, as well as be responsible for designing, engineering and implementing large-scale scale (100kW+) commercial solar PV systems. Experience working through all aspects of solar photovoltaic system engineering is required, including hands-on performance of: solar site assessments and feasibility analysis, making cost-effective technology selections, developing electrical and structural system designs and drawings, overseeing the permitting, incentives and interconnection processes, performance testing, inspection and certification, and ongoing maintenance and operation. The SVP of Operations will be responsible for establishing and overseeing a top-tier engineering team. He/She will liaise closely with the business development team and finance team to develop highly customized and cost effective solar solutions. The candidate will also play an active role in building strategic relationships with manufacturers and integrators. Considerable experience and creativity are required, as well as the ability and maturity to manage growth within a fast-paced, start-up environment. Responsibilities will include: • Management and oversight of each phase of commercial scale solar project development within a specified timeframe • Attending site qualification visits to collect information needed to complete the design and permitting of large-scale solar electric systems. • Designing innovative and cost efficient photovoltaic systems, and creating professional CAD drawings including one-line diagrams, structural designs, electrical designs, and system sizing • Overseeing and executing the permitting, incentive, and interconnection processes • Working with a variety of technological partners and coordinating procurement of panels, inverters, racking, wiring, and monitoring systems • Negotiating contracts with manufacturers, integrators, electricians and installers for all services and materials. Coordinating the development of a bill of material for each project based on the final approved design • Coordinating and managing project costs with the SVP of finance • Obtaining design approvals from additional licensed engineers as necessary Specific Job Skills: • Proven ability to simultaneously manage numerous complex solar development projects, each involving multiple suppliers • Outstanding managerial, organizational and people skills • Sound judgment and attention to detail • Excellent working knowledge of Full AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT with NitroCAD or equivalent • Excellent price negotiation skills • Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise initiative • Desire to play a key role building an innovative green company • Understanding of: project finance, solar markets, solar photovoltaic technology, and renewable energy / environmental policy issues Experience Requirements: You must be passionate about the renewable energy business, be willing to work extremely hard, and enjoy the fast pace of an early stage company with tremendous growth potential.
