Public Workshop to be held March 16 on the Preliminary Staff Assessment of the Palmdale Hybrid Power Project

What: The staff of the California Energy Commission will hold a public workshop on the Preliminary Staff Assessment (PSA) for the proposed Palmdale Hybrid Power Project in Los Angeles County. All interested parties and members of the public are invited to participate.

When: Tuesday, March 16, 2010, starting at 10:30am

Where: Development Services Building, City of Palmdale, 38250 Sierra Highway, Palmdale, California

Why: The workshop will allow staff, the applicant, interested agencies and the public to discuss the biological resources portion of the PSA. Other technical areas of the document may be discussed, if necessary.

After a period of public comments and community workshops on the PSA, the Energy Commission will respond to all relevant comments and release its Final Staff Assessment (FSA).

The 570-MW Palmdale project, owned by the City of Palmdale, consists of a hybrid of natural gas-fired combined cycle generating facility integrated with solar thermal generating equipment to be developed on about 377 acres in the city's northern portion.

If approved by the Commission, the project will start construction towards a planned commercial operation in the summer of 2013.
