With the new SOLON Black 280/12, SOLON presents the First Crystalline Module that can be Attached to Metal Roofs using an Adhesive
Many owners of flat metal roofs were unable to use these surfaces for photovoltaic systems due to load-bearing restrictions of the roofs for a conventional system. As well, owners were concerned about leaks once the mounting system was installed. The SOLON Black 280/12 is manufactured using 72 monocrystalline cells and weighs only 8.5 kg/m², making it extremely lightweight. This feat is made possible by eliminating the frame and using 3.2 mm of glass. The connection socket is rotated by 180 degrees to facilitate assembly and improve cable routing. The modules are particularly well-protected against theft since they are attached with an adhesive. It also is protected against corrosion with other foreign materials on the roofs. Sika Deutschland GmbH, a leading global manufacturer of specialty chemicals for construction and industrial materials for sealing and adhesive bonding, produces the adhesive for the solar power systems for metal roofs. The system consisting of module and adhesive comes with a 20-year warranty. The SOLON Black 280/12 measures 1937 x 993 mm and attains a maximum peak power of 270 watts, which is the equivalent to an efficiency of 14 percent. The output is thus two times higher per square meter when compared to other thin-film systems on the market.
