Community of Etzbach and COLEXON inaugurate 735 kWp Solar Power Plant
Hamburg, Germany October 29, 2009

    * Solar power plant supplies more than 140 four-person-households with green electricity
    * Reduction of approx. 620 tons CO2 per year
    * Renting rooftops is profitable for all participants
Today, Edgar Peters, Managing Director of Industriepark Etzbach GmbH, and Thorsten Preugschas, CEO of COLEXON Energy AG, will officially inaugurate a solar power plant with a total capacity of 735 kilowatt-peak (kWp) in Etzbach, Rhineland-Palatinate/Germany.

The inauguration will be attended by local and regional politicians, e.g. Jacqueline Kraege, Secretary of State of the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Environment, as well as media and company representatives.

The community Etzbach provided approx. 25,000 sqm of roof top area for the erection of the solar power plant. In return the community will receive rent payments. The COLEXON Group is the developer, investor and system operator for the project with a total investment volume amounting to approx. three million Euros.

With the realization of the solar power plant, the community of Etzbach emphasizes the importance of solar power for the region. Besides the positive ecological effects the region will also benefit economically: “With the leasing of the industrial park’s rooftop areas, the community secured a consistent income for the next 20 years”, said Edgar Peters.

Thorsten Preugschas regards this project as an important milestone for COLEXON on its way to establish itself as an independent solar power producer in the solar market. „The state-guaranteed cash flows generated by the plants revenue strengthen our business model and add stability and continuity to the development of our company“, explains Preugschas.

COLEXON used a total of 10,151 thin film modules from the manufacturer First Solar – the international market leader of the innovative thin film technology. The solar panels were mounted on the nine factory rooftops with an optimal slope of 30 degrees facing south. A module tray construction of aluminium was used as the substructure.

The plant generates approx. 700,000 kilowatt hours of environmentally friendly electricity per year. COLEXON receives compensation at a fixed rate from the local electric utility. Hence, the power plant will cover the energy demand of about 140 four-person households in the region. At the same time, about 620 tons of CO2 emissions will be saved annually.
