Suntech Power Chosen to Provide Solar Energy System for Beijing Olympics

130KW Solar Energy System to Help Power 2008 Beijing Olympic Main Stadium
Suntech Power Holdings Co.,
Ltd. (NYSE: STP), one of the world's leading manufacturers of photovoltaic
(PV) cells and modules, announced today an exclusive contract to supply a
130KW solar energy system for Beijing's Bird's Nest Stadium, the main
stadium for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. The world-class solar energy
system will be installed at 12 entrances of the Bird's Nest Stadium.
"The Bird's Nest Stadium solar energy project demonstrates China's
commitment to clean, renewable energy and a green Olympics," remarked Dr.
Zhengrong Shi, Suntech's chairman and CEO. "We are delighted that Suntech's
leading PV system has been chosen to help power the main stadium for the
2008 Beijing Olympics."
Dr. Shi noted that China's first renewable energy law, which came into
effect at the beginning of 2006, is designed to increase renewable energy
use in China.
